Mary Rita McGovern - Mary McGovern (nee Darcy) of Delray Beach, FL, formerly of West Orange NJ passed away peacefully with her husband Edward (Eamonn) by her side at Delray Medical Center on Friday December 30, 2011. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 5, 2012 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 10:00 AM. Then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Visiting will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Judes Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 and the MS Society (NJ Chapter) , 1 Kalisa Way Suite 205, Paramus, NJ 07652. Mary Rita was born and raised in East Orange, living in West Orange and Ireland before moving to Florida 3 years ago. She was a home maker. She graduated form Clifford J. Scott High School in 1961. Mary was a proud member of the Darcy 5 Irish Step Dancers. She was also a member of the Frank McGovern Association, Peggy Smith School of Irish Dance, Project Children, and the Irish-American Society of the Oranges. Mary served as Deputy Grand Marshall of the West Orange St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1979. She was a member of and Past President of The Women of Irish Heritage and most recently, Mary was President of the Women's Guild at Emmanuel Church and treasurer of the Los Verdes Home Owner's Association in Delray Beach. Mary loved playing bingo, cards, and was extremely dedicated to her Irish heritage. She recently spent her time learning Gaelic. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her beloved husband Edward (Eamonn) and her 5 children: Eamonn and his wife Linda, Sean and his wife Jennifer, Deirdre, Patrick and his wife Kelly, and Cathy and her husband Paul. She was a devoted "Nanny" to her 12 grandchildren; Saoirse, Ciara, Mairead, Shane, Jack, Aidan, Dylan, Elton, Maggie, Molly, Grace and Olivia. Mary was the cherished daughter of Frank Darcy and the late Catherine Darcy. Loving sister of Patricia, Frank Darcy Jr. and his wife Kathy, Eileen and her husband Pat, and Brian and is wife Cindy, and the late Kathleen. She was also loved by her many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
