Patrick "Paddy" Hopkins - Patrick "Paddy" Hopkins of Verona formerly of West Orange passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2011. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 22, 2011 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 10:00 Am then to Our Lady of the Lake Church, Lakeside Avenue in Verona for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visiting will be Friday from 3 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 906 Springfield Ave., Springfield, NJ 07081. Mr. Hopkins was born and raised in Frenchpark, County Roscommon Ireland living in Orange and West Orange before moving to Verona ten years ago. He was a Service Technician working for NJ Bell - Bell Atlantic for 42 years before retiring in 1992. He was presently a crossing guard working for Verona Board of Education. Mr. Hopkins was a member of the Irish American Association of the Oranges, the Roscommon Society of NY, the VFW of Maplewood and West Orange, The Shillelagh Club of West Orange, the Giblin Association and the Cryan Association. Mr. Hopkins served in the United States Army with the Infantry in the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, with 1 Bronze Star, the United Nation Service Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal of Japan, was presented with the West Orange Veterans Distinguished Service Medal. Mr. Hopkins was the beloved husband of the Late Agnes T. Hopkins (nee Gilmartin). Devoted father of Agnes Ivans, Kathleen Hopkins, Kevin, Trisha Hopkins, Eddie and John.
