Obituary of Frederick T. Marateo

Frederick T. Marateo, Jr., 75 Retired Letter Carrier Frederick T. Marateo, Jr. passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Summit Ridge Nursing Facility in West Orange, NJ. He was 75 years old. Visiting will be held on Thursday April 27, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 28, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover. Frederick was born and raised in Orange, NJ he then resided in West Orange since 1960. He was a dedicated Letter Carrier for the Orange Post Office for 37 years before retiring in 1998. Frederick was the devoted husband of Patricia (nee O'Connell) for 45 years. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Deanna, and her fiancé Mark Richer, devoted son Daniel and his wife Tracy. Also surviving are his brother, Raymond and his wife Jutta, his brother and sister –in –law, Jack and June O'Connell, sister-in-law, Joan O'Connell, three nephews and seven nieces. He was loving grandpa "Freddy pops" to his darling grandchildren, Eliana and Dante. Mr. Marateo was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Ethel Marateo, his step-mother Helen Marateo, his brother John and his sister, Ethel. He was also recently predeceased by his brother-in-law, Richard O'Connell. Fred was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Jets.
