Charles J. Trabold Charles J. Trabold, of Maplewood passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange, at 12:00 noon. Cremation will be private. Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, from 3-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to; Charles J. Trabold Kappa-Kappa Leadership Development Fund, TKE Educational Foundation, 7439 Woodland Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46278. Or, online at TKE.org. Charles was born in Newark and lived in Orange, East Orange, West Orange, Indianapolis, IN, returning to West Orange in 1992, before moving to Maplewood several years ago. He worked for New Jersey Bell (now, Verizon), AT&T, and Concert (an AT&T and British Telecom enterprise), retiring from Lucent and AT&T in 1989, where he was a manager with the Material Management Services. Mr. Trabold retired as a Colonel from the United States Army Reserve in 1989. Previously he had served in the New Jersey National Guard, having enlisted as a Private in the second Squadron of the 102d Armored Calvary Regiment (The Essex Troop) in West Orange. He served in the 3rd Squadron of the 104th Armored Cavalry Regiment, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel while serving as the Commander of the 250th Signal Battalion, 50th Armored Division, in Plainfield. He then transferred to the United States Army Reserve where he was promoted to Colonel. Charles was a Life Member, past Officer and trustee of the Essex Troop. While a Secondary Education Major at Monmouth University, he was initiated a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity, was president of the Kappa Kappa Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity on campus. He served on the TKE staff as Director of Chapter Services in their Indianapolis headquarters for three years. Charles was a long-time volunteer, and past member of the Fraternity's Grand Council (International Board of Directors) as well as a member of the Advisory Board for the TKE Educational Foundation. He was the recipient of the Monmouth University's 2011 Volunteer Service Award. Charlie was a member and Past Grand Knight of the West Orange Council 5519 of the Knights of Columbus and Past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Archbishop Bayley Assembly. He was a member and past officer of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Orange Lodge 135. He was a former member, lector, and usher at St. John's Church in Orange and a current member at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in South Orange. Charles was the beloved son of the late Charles W. and Lillian (Raftery) Trabold. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Rocco Tischio, Sr., and his sister-in-law, Mary Walsh. Brother of Joan and her husband Joseph Keaney, Walter and his wife Valarie, Msgr. George R. Trabold, Paul and his wife Janet.
