Obituary of Alice Patricia Abbott

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Patricia (Pat) Abbott (nee Bannon) of Morris Plains, formerly of West Orange, Silver Beach and Leland, NC, who left us on January 13, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Patricia will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and dedication to her family. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years Captain James T. Abbott, Jr. USMM, her two daughters, Patricia Bozzo and Leigh Blake, and son-in-law Raymond Blake. She is survived by her son-in-law Victor Bozzo, daughters Alison Galizia (Paul), Elaine Abbott, Susanne McNeill (Francis), and her son West Orange Police Chief James Abbott (Cheryl). Pat also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Patricia was the cherished daughter of Patrick and Alice Bannon and grew up with a deep sense of compassion and responsibility. She carried those qualities throughout her life and instilled them in her six children. As a mother, Patricia was the heart of her family—a constant source of support, wisdom, and encouragement. Her commitment to her children was unparalleled, and she spent her life ensuring that they were not only loved but also empowered to pursue their dreams. She never wavered in her devotion to her children, always putting their needs above her own. Her love and sacrifice will forever be etched in the hearts of her family.

Pat was an accomplished artist who found great joy in drawing and creating beautiful oil pastels. Her portraits and wildlife creations hang proudly in the homes of her family and will continue to serve as a reminder of her presence. 

She will be missed beyond measure, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.

Visiting for Patricia will be held on Thursday January 16, 2025 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St. in West Orange

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday January 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church,  1 Eagle Rock Avenue, interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover .
