Obituary of William Francis Davenport Jr.

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William F. Davenport Jr.

July 2, 1958 – November 15, 2024.

William F. Davenport Jr., lovingly known as Bill, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024 at the age of 66. Born on July 2, 1958, in Jersey City, NJ, Bill was raised in Secaucus, where he developed lifelong connections and a love for family and friends.

In later years, Bill moved to West Orange, NJ, where he built a beautiful life with his wife, Donna Weber Davenport. The two were married on November 30, 2013, in Smithville, NJ—a place close to Bill’s heart, where he shared countless cherished memories with his family.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife Donna, his stepson Matt and Matt’s fiancé Charisse, and his faithful companion, their dog Bentley. He is predeceased by his loving parents, William F. Davenport Sr. and Alice (nee McGrath) Davenport. Bill is also survived by his brother Dennis, sister-in-law Tonette, and his nephew and godson Dennis, along with many adored cousins and lifelong friends.

Bill had a fulfilling career, including his time with CBS and CNBC, before retiring in 2018. In his retirement, Bill embraced the things he loved most: relaxing by the ocean, visiting Sandals Resorts, and enjoying the beach—especially the Tiki bar. He was a dedicated fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Mets, passionately cheering for his teams.

Bill’s warmth, humor, and devotion to his loved ones left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love of life and his ability to make every moment special.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Dangler Funeral Parlor located at 340 Main Street, West Orange, on Tuesday, November 19,2024 from 2-6pm where family and friends are invited to honor and remember him.
