Obituary of Marie Mulligan

Marie Mulligan

Marie Mulligan, born October 17, 1939, in Newark, NJ, passed away on April 10, 2024. She was a proud graduate of West Orange High School class of 1958 and spent over 60 years living in West Orange, where she raised her family with her husband Robert Mulligan.

Marie juggled her roles as a dedicated mother and a professional, working at the DMV, Foster Wheeler, and concluding her career at Organon Pharmaceuticals where she retired.

After the loss of her husband, Bob, in 2003, Marie moved to Brick, NJ, to enjoy her retirement years surrounded by good friends and family. 

Marie was an avid bowler, card player and ran the tables when it came to a good game of Rummikubs. Her love of cards extended to Texas Hold ‘Em, and she never passed up a chance to play bingo or try her luck at a good lottery scratch off.  She never refused the wink-wink Mr. Mags offer at the ‘accidental Shoprite meet up’ to head down to Atlantic City.

Marie's greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she cherished with all her heart.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her 8 siblings (Charles, William, Robert, Thelma, Ellen, Francis, Barbara) and their spouses as well as her brother-in-law Matt and his wife Rose.  She is survived by her 4 children Bobby (Ellen), Barbara, Susan (Santo) and Richie (Raquel) and her 8 grandchildren Megan (26), Kelly (23), Robert (17), Jaime (20), Nicholas (15), Justin (15), Matthew (13) and Anthony (13).  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved as dearly as her own children.

Visiting will be held on Sunday April 14, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street 

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday April 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
