Florence Irene Fernicola, 92

Florence Irene Fernicola (Knof), 92, of West Orange, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2024.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Florence was the eldest child of the late Stanley and Nettie Knof. Along with her husband Joseph H. Fernicola Sr. (deceased), she moved to West Orange in 1956 where they raised their family. She worked as a property administrator for the Essex County Correctional Center for 30 years prior to her retirement. Florence was a longtime resident of West Orange for 68 years.

Florence was the cherished sister of the late John Knof, Dorothy Bauer, and Cecilia Scott and is survived by her brother Walter Knof and his wife Hazel. Devoted mother of Joseph and his wife Diane, the late Michael and his wife Kathleen, Richard and his wife Rosemarie, and Irene Fernicola. Cherished grandmother of Patricia, Richard, Jennifer, Joseph, Amanda, Clinton, Levi, Dianna, and Isaiah. Florence was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 4-8pm at Dangler Funeral Home, 340 Main Street, West Orange, NJ 07052. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11am at Our Lady of Lourdes, 1 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052, followed by Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to St. Jude or American Heart Association in Florence’s name.
