Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John Petroll Jr.

Nov. 18, 1935- March 3, 2024

John was born in Newark, NJ to John & Catherine (Boehm) Petroll. He and his brother Robert “Bob” were raised by his father in West Orange after their parents marriage dissolved.

In his early adulthood he worked as a janitor for a local school. He soon met his wife Judy Ann (daughter of Julia & Robert Morton) in a youth group at Holy Trinity Episcopalian Church. They married May 10, 1958, and were together 59 years. John joined the army then continued as a reservist while he served as a firefighter in West Orange for 7 years. John then entered the West Orange Police force where he grew to the rank of Sargeant and retired after 20+ years.

With his wife Judy, a homemaker and school secretary, they raised their three children Kevin, Karen, and Brian. They retired in Jensen Beach, Florida and later split their time in the Poconos.

Together they loved their family vacations in the Thousand Islands, visiting friends up and down the east coast, hitting the casinos, trips to Vegas and just being in the sun poolside.

John is predeceased by his father John, brother Bob, wife Judy and grandsons Chris & TJ Thomas John Loughrey.

He is survived by his son Kevin Petroll with grandsons Dylan and Max, daughter Karen (Loughrey) & her husband Doug Stevens, son Brian & wife Karen (Kijewski) Petroll, granddaughter Kalene, two step grandchildren Chris Kupsta and Kelly Hodgins, as well as two great granddaughters Soleya & Sailor Martino.
