Obituary of Patrick J Cunningham

Patrick J."Pat" Cunningham, 93, of West Orange, passed away on Friday September 5, 2014. Patrick was born in Orange and was a lifelong resident of West Orange. Pat managed Golf clubs including Hopewell Valley Golf Club, as well as Maplewood Golf Club which he managed for over 25 years. Pat was a member of the Managers Association of America Pat spent most of his business life in the golf industry, beginning at Crestmont Country Club in West Orange, as a caddie and pro shop attendant, moving to Arcola Country Club in Paramus as caddie master and then to Forest Field Club in Bloomfield. He was general manager at Maplewood Country Club and later at Hopewell Valley Golf Club. His last position in the golf industry was at Essex County Country Club as the dining room and banquet manager. He then was the dining room manager at the Highlawn Pavillion in West Orange when the restaurant opened its doors. After retirement from golf he worked as a courier for Ocean Independent Bank for 9 years. He was a proud member of Alcoholic Anonymous for over 45 years. Patrick was the beloved husband of the late Frieda (nee Zaras) Cunningham. Devoted father of Terrence M. and his wife Antoinette, Richard J. and his wife Michelle, and Dorothy J. DiNatale and her husband John. Loving brother of Winifred McNeill, William T., and the late Paul B, James H., Walter M., and Dick.. Also survived by Donna Cunningham. Cherished grandfather of Terrence Jr., Laura, Paul, Maria, Lisa, Neila, Patrick, DJ,Traci, Cunningham, Lindsay, Jackie, and the late JD DiNatale. Great-grandfather of 8. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Monday September 8, 2014 at the Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange 340 Main Street in West Orange at 9:00 AM. Then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church 1 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange for A Mass of Christian Burial Service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 225 Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Patrick's name to Our Lady of Lourdes Church 1 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange, NJ 07052.
