Thomas Steven McCormick Jr., 82 Thomas (Tom) Steven McCormick Jr., 82, passed away on Sunday May 18, 2014 at his home in Lakewood. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visit The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, on Thursday May 22, 2014 from 3 to 8. Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 23, 2014 at The Dangler Funeral Home at 9:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph's Church, 44 Benvenue Ave. in West Orange at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Tom's name to the Michael T. McCormick Jr. Memorial Foundation, 12 Robertson Road, West Orange, NJ 07052. Tom was born and raised in West Orange, the third generation of the McCormick family which totaled five generations in West Orange, before moving to Lakewood 7 years ago. He was a Certified Public Accountant for over 40 years, and was a member of the State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Tom was a graduate of Seton Hall Prep. He was a member of SHP Golden Knights and was presented with the Thomas A. Reynolds Memorial Award in 2006 from the Prep. He graduated from Pace University, where he played varsity basketball and was installed in the Pace Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. Tom was a 1st Lieutenant in the Marine Corp, proudly serving the United States in peacetime in Japan. He started and played on the 1955 Third Marine Division Championship basketball team. Tom was a charter member of the West Orange Shillelagh Club since 1969 and was honored as Man of The Year in 2011. He was the Chief of Staff for the 1983 St. Patrick's Parade in West Orange and was a recipient of the West Orange Old Timer's Athletic Award in 1997. In addition, Tom was a longtime member of Rock Spring Country Club where he served as Treasurer for three years. Tom was an avid golfer, collector of mechanical banks and a loyal supporter of Pace University and Seton Hall University Pirates Basketball. Tom was the beloved husband of 56 years of Nora "Pat" McCormick (nee Kerr). Devoted father of Michael T. Sr. and his wife Karen, Kathleen MacKenzie and her husband James, Brian and his wife Donna. Loving brother of the late Claire Kelleher and Walter Burns. Cherished grandfather of Meaghan, Brianna, Brooke, and the late Michael T. McCormick Jr.
