Obituary of Ernesto D. Abad

Deacon Ernesto D. Abad III, 62 Deacon Ernesto D. Abad III, 62, of West Orange passed away suddenly on Sunday April 27, 2014. Visitation will be held on Friday May 2, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Vigil Service at 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover. Arrangements are entrusted to The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange. Deacon Ernest was born and raised in Manila, Philippines before moving to New Jersey in 1983 where he resided for 24 years in West Orange, NJ. He earned his Master's Degree at LaSalle University (Philippines) and, as a part of diaconate studies, a Masters at Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange, NJ. He was ordained a Deacon in 2002, he served the Archdiocese of Newark and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in West Orange until 2014. Deacon Ernesto also served as a member of the Archdiocesan Filipino Pastoral Team. Deacon Ernesto is survived by his wife Margo Abad and her children, Gina and Frank. He is a loving "Lolo" to granddaughter, Ava. Loving brother of Arlene (Victor) Gisbert, Maribeth (Vince) Arnaldo, Marissa (Tony) Matias, Marilou, Renato and Robert Abad, and the late Eric Abad. He is also survived by his nephews, nieces, great nephews and niece, uncles, aunts, and cousins.
