To the entire Rae family,
Living next door to you on Maple Street was a great way for me to see what a family was all about. Your kindness's to my folks over the years will never be forgotten. Your Dad and Mom were terrific people, and the bond our fathers shared gave me an example of courage, commitment, never give in , which served me well over the years. I remember seeing them having a beer in the garage, and solving the worlds problems. It always brings a smile to my face. You all handled your responsibilities, and I'm sure they would want you to move on and enjoy your own lives.
Rest in Peace Dan and Annie....I was always glad to stay in touch over the years.

I spent a lot of time with Danny at the Community House when I was a kid. He taught a large group of us how to play basketball and also taught us about life. Some of us also watched Danny play in 40 & over league, we attended some of his games (he drove us in his car). He was a great guy who was good to many kids in West Orange, we all looked up to and admired him. Thank you Danny, may you rest in peace.

My prayers are with your family. When I went to girl's club at the WO Community House I had trouble with some of the girls. Danny took me under his wing and taught me to play pool (I'm still a shark!) He protected me and helped me through a rough time. Everytime I play pool I think of him and am so grateful to have had him in my life. May he rest in peace. He was an angel on earth, now in heaven.. Sincerely,, Ellen Hanley

Dear Mom and Dad,
The family just loved the picture of you both together! I just wanted to write a few words (lol a few words from me, who am I kidding? I talk as much as you do dad lol) to thank you both, to tell you how much you both were loved and are missed!
Dad and Mom thank you for teaching us resiliency through hardship by example. Mom you always fought to recover from your surgeries, and dad you were always by mom's side while working multiple jobs. You both had determination and a sense of humor. Times were not always easy, but your humor made the tough times easier for all of us too handle!
Dad and Mom, thank you both for teaching us to be kind, caring, loving and empathic towards others! For teaching by examples of how to "just roll up your sleeves" and just start helping others without waiting to be asked. Thank you for encouraging me to read and seek knowledge (although while at Our Lady of Lourdes grammar school you couldn't get me to read anything lol). Now I cant put a book down, thank you both for staying on me and encouraging me. Because now I just love reading, and gaining knowledge.
Dad I am just going to miss all our talks, and your electrical, mechanical and carpentry knowledge. My skills have come a long way this past decade since I've been working by your side. I will miss your jokes and laughter when you watched me struggle at times. Working alongside you I've learned so much, and even showed you dad some new ways of doing things (Dad you really loved how fast I could look up torque specs on google, ordering parts from Amazon, and you not having to go down to the Sears warehouse for replacement parts lol. Dad you really started to love the newer way of doing things lol).
Dad, I will miss watching you talk to people, and, to the family, with your stories and jokes. I already miss hearing your voice. But I love how you always made others laugh, always putting a smile on my face, and being deeply proud to be your son! I just wish I could give you a big hug and tell you how much I love you one more time.
Dad and Mom please rest in peace together, please watch over us and send guidance when you can. Mommy when you see daddy, and after you give him a hug and kiss. Please don't ask daddy if he brought you a piece of Irish Soda bread, or a pastry to go with your morning coffee. I am sure heaven has some great Irish Soda bread and pastries, let daddy have some time to find his way around heaven. And he will have your coffee, toast and pastry ready for you each morning, just like he always did for you. Annie and Danny are back together, and we all just wish we could watch. Because it was some of the funniest times watching the both of you interact with each other.
Mom and Dad, just know I, and the family, are heartbroken you both are gone. It just feels empty not hearing your jokes and laughter. But, we all will carry on, the hurting and sadness will come and go, but again you taught us all how to just carry on. And that is what we all will do!
Dad, Bailey misses you everyday, she goes downstairs and looks for you. She loved getting her scratches behind the ears, and hearing you ask her if "she's a good girl". I miss watching her tail wag when she was around you dad! Bailey just felt your kindness!
Mom and Dad we all love you very much, just rest in peace and enjoy heaven! Please watch over all of us!
Much love,
Danny
