Obituary of Galo Coba Leon

Galo Coba Leon, 91

On November 20, 2020, Galo Coba Leon died at the age of 91. 

He was the loving father of 5 children.  Sara Laracy and her husband Greg, Galo Coba and his wife Tracey, Dora Coba and her husband Pablo, Nancy Coba Glazer and her husband Robert, Rose Coba DeRosa and her husband Brian.    Cherished grandfather of Gregory Jr., Justin, Charlie, Sarita, Andrew, Galo Jr., Kyle, Kacey, Galo Rene, Ariel, Elena, Amaya, Clark, Henry.  He was predeceased by his loving wife Teresa and grandchild Aaron. 

Galo Coba was born in 1929 in Otavalo, Ecuador to Sara Coba (nee Leon) and Miguel Coba.  On March 10, 1972 he married Teresa Isabel Coba (nee Avila).  He was a long time residence of West Orange.  He was a skilled welder who applied his trade internationally.  He was hard working, responsible and dedicated to his family.  He was affectionately known as “Papi” by all who knew him.  He loved to walk, play volleyball and soccer.  He was known for his wit and humor.  He loved spending time with his family. 

Visiting will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange, then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Cremation will be private.

During the COVID 19 pandemic, all persons entering the Funeral Home will be required to wear a face mask or face covering throughout their stay. Likewise, all social distancing rules must be adhered to.

Gathering together in groups should not happen.

A continued flow throughout the facility will aid in keeping all of us safe, with everyone having an opportunity to pay their respects.
