Mary Geraldine Scanlon, 87

Mary Geraldine Scanlon, 87, of West Orange passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020.       

Visiting will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St., West Orange.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Monday October 5, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. in West Orange. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to; Alzheimer’s Association of New Jersey, 425 Eagle Rock Ave. #203, Roseland, NJ 07068. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com.

Mary was born in Balbriggan, County Dublin, Ireland, moving to Newark in the 1950’s and living in Orange before moving to West Orange. She was a home maker, dedicated to raising her family. Mary was a member of the Irish American Society of the Oranges.

 Mary was the beloved wife of 62 years to John Scanlon. Devoted mother of Elizabeth Steinwandtner, Kathleen Lewand, Mary Coyle and her husband Robert, and the late John Scanlon. Cherished grandmother of Cara, Rick, Ryan, Nick, Nevin, Noelle, Conor, and Kyra, great grandmother of 6.

During the COVID 19 pandemic, all persons entering the Funeral Home will be required to wear a face mask or face covering throughout their stay. Likewise, all social distancing rules must be adhered to. Gathering together in groups should not happen. A continued flow throughout the facility will aid in keeping all of us safe, with everyone having an opportunity to pay their respects.
