Obituary of Virginia Schmidt

Virginia C. Schmidt, 94

Virginia C. Schmidt, born in Atlanta, Georgia, resident of West Orange, New Jersey for over 67 years, at age 94, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2020.

Virginia was the beloved wife of the late William H. Schmidt, Sr.; the sister of the late Patricia Johnson Mc Nally; much beloved mother of William H. Schmidt, Jr. and Janice L. Murphy (Brian J. Murphy); adored grandmother to Mark Murphy (Erin Murphy), Virginia Murphy, and Elizabeth Mac Ewen (Mark Mac Ewen); and loved great grandmother to Kathryn, Brian and Emma Murphy.

Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell and faithfully served as a Deacon with the Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church in West Orange for many years. Virginia was a longtime member of the West Orange Senior Citizens. She was a supervisor with the Cigna (formerly Connecticut General Life Insurance Company) for over twenty years.

Our beautiful Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother was the center of our family and we were all blessed by God to have her with us for so many happy years. We all called her the eternal optimist!
