Joseph “Big Joe” O’Connell, Sr., 74

Joseph O’Connell, Sr., 74, of West Orange passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020.   

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 4-8 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to; Tribute Program, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, and Saint Barnabas Medical Center, 94 Short Hill Rd., Livingston, NJ 07039.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.

Joseph was born in Orange and raised in Montclair before moving to West Orange in 1970. He was a printer, working for Prestige Graphics in Union. Joe was a Boy Scout leader for Pack 5 in West Orange, he was the West Orange Booster Club President and along with his wife ran the carnival for many years. Joe was an avid Met fan.

Joe was the beloved husband of 49 years to Linda O’Connell (nee Miller).  Devoted father of Joey and his wife Tiffany, and Chris O’Connell. Loving brother of Tommy, Charlie, Billy, Ricky, and the late Bobby. Cherished grandfather of Mikayla, Lily, Kyle, and Alexa, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
