Helen C. Filan (nee Bellsiano), 92, of West Orange passed away on Monday November 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Visiting will be held on Friday November 16, 2018 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to; St. John’s Church, 94 Ridge Street, Orange, NJ 07050.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday November 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, 94 Ridge Street in Orange. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Orange.  

Helen was born and raised in Newark before moving to West Orange. She was a lunch aide working for the Board of Education in West Orange at Washington Street School for 36 years. Helen was a parishioner at St. John’s Church for 66 years, as well as a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.  President of both Edison School and Washington School PTA.  Den Mother for West Orange Boy Scouts, and a member of the CO HO’s - West Orange Community House.

Helen was the beloved wife of 72 years to Lawrence “Larry” Filan.  Devoted mother of Joe, Paul, Tommy, Mary Dowding, Larry, Pattie Nudo, and Mike. Loving sister of Mike Bellisano, and predeceased by many other siblings.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
