Robert James Santucci Sr., 84

Robert James Santucci Sr., 84, of Bloomfield, formerly of West Orange, passed away on Friday May 25, 2018.  

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave. in East Hanover.  Services are entrusted to The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Robert’s name to; St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Robert was a Police Officer working for the Township of West Orange, retiring as Detective Sergeant.  He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert was the Captain of the West Orange High School Baseball Team, playing center field with a leading average of 434, receiving All State Honors. In 1952/1953 he played for the Detroit Tigers. Robert was drafted into the United States Army, upon his Honorable discharge, he started his career in law enforcement in 1955.  In January of 1960 Robert rescued 10 from a burning house in West Orange.

Robert was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann Santucci (nee Russo).  Devoted father of Robert J. Jr. and his wife Christine, Doreen Intindola, and Deidre Devito and her husband John.  He is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
