Raymond E. Hodgin, 91 - Raymond E. Hodgin, 91 Retired West Orange Police Officer Raymond E. Hodgin of Pocono Lake, PA (formerly of West Orange) passed away suddenly on Wednesday November 27, 2013 at the age of 91. He was born in Kearny, NJ, to parents Stephen C and Yolanda (nee Mallosay) and lived most of his life in West Orange before moving to Pocono Lake, PA., in the early 90's. Mr. Hodgin was a Police Officer with the West Orange Police Department for 26 years receiving several acts of heroism awards prior to his retirement in 1981. Prior to joining the police department, he served in the United States Marine from 1941 to 1945, seeing duty in the South Pacific. Raymond was a member of the West Orange P.B.A. Local 25 and the American Legion Hall in Pocono Lake, PA. Raymond is predeceased by his first wife Lillian (nee Bogert) Hodgin, second wife, Lorraine (nee McHugh) Hodgin, a sister, Virginia Langley, and brother, Robert Hodgin. Raymond was an avid handball player and competed in many state championships during the 60's. He was a long-time member of the Montclair YMCA where he captured several house championships over the years. Raymond is survived by his son, Stephen, daughter in law, Lauren of Howell, N.J., grandson, Ryan Hodgin and his wife, Meghan, of Boonton, NJ, and granddaughter, Alexa Hodgin, of Howell, NJ. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange, NJ. Visitation will take place prior to the services from 8:00- 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
