Obituary of William J. McManus

William J. "Butch" McManus,72 - William J. "Butch" McManus, 72, of Point Pleasant Boro, formerly of West Orange, passed away suddenly on Tuesday January 1, 2013. Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 7, 2013 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 11:00 AM. Cremation will be private. Visiting will be Sunday 3-7 PM. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Butch's name to the Point Pleasant Animal Welfare Committee, 319 Forman Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742. Butch was born in Orange raised in West Orange before moving to Point Pleasant Boro 12 years ago. Butch proudly served his country during peacetime in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962. Butch was a Fire Captain for the Township of West Orange retiring in 1990. After the fire department he then worked as a Ranger for the Essex Fells Country Club in Essex Fells. Butch was a past member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local # 692 serving as an officer as well as the FMBA local # 228 Butch was the loving husband of Carol (nee Reinhardt) McManus. Devoted father of Elizabeth Marano (Louis), Jennifer Raggi (Michael), and Anthony. Step-father to Laura Wabeke, Richard Williamson, Lisa Nasta, and Jimmy Williamson. Loving brother to Francis "Buddy" McManus and sister and friend of Sheila Mercuro. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Madison, Hailey, Jared, Jason, and Liam. Step-Grandfather of Betsy, Richard, Anthony, Shannon, Ryan, and Grace. Also survived by many nieces,nephews and cousins that he loved dearly. His cat Cali and the "Boardwalk Feline Group" that he took care of daily.
