Vincent G. Albanese, 89 - Vincent G. Albanese of West Orange, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday August 3, 2012. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday August 7, 2012 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 8:30 AM then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church 1 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visiting will be Monday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the West Orange PAL, PO Box 71 TCB, West Orange, NJ 07052. "Mr. Albanese", as he was affectionately known, was born on January 3, 1923, in East Orange, NJ, to the late Frank and Josephine (Vierga) Albanese. Brother of the late Frank Albanese. He graduated from East Orange High School in 1940 where he was a member of the High School Baseball Team. By trade he was an Offset Printer employed by Thomas A. Edison Industries in West Orange, for over 40 years. He unselfishly volunteered his time to the West Orange PAL for over 37 years. He served as Executive Director, coordinating the Football, Baseball, and Cheerleading Programs. His greatest honor was having the PAL Baseball Field Dedicated to him as the 'Vincent G. Albanese PAL Sports Complex". Among the numerous kudos and honors bestowed upon him were The West Orange ELKS Man of the Year, PBA Silver Life Member, West Orange Athletic Hall of Fame, Orange/West Orange Chapter of UNICO Sports Award, West Orange Recreation REC Achievement Award, Essex County Chapter of the National Football Foundation "Contributor to Amateur Football Award", Essex County Baseball Director, Mountain Valley Pop Warner Football League, Founder of the West Orange PAL Thomas A. Edison Memorial Bowl Game. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Eleanor (Altavilla), on their 47th Wedding Anniversary, August 15, 2001. He is survived by his devoted Daughter, June, and her husband Peter Caporaso, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, and all of his "PAL Kids."
