Keith Alvin St. Hope Gardner, OD, 82 - Keith Alvin St. Hope Gardner, OD of West Orange passed way peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday May 25, 2012 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday June 9, 2012 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 8:30 AM then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. West Orange for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will be private. Visiting will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mr. Gardner was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica moving to West Orange 2 years ago. He was the Director of Sports for the Multi Care Foundation in the University of West Indies, and Jamaica Constabulary Force, Kingston, Jamaica. Mr. Gardner was a member of the Scottish Masonic Club in Jamaica, the Past President of the Olympian Association of Jamaica and a member of the Jamaican Athletic Association. He was named to the University of Nebraska Hall of Fame for Track & Field; Mr. Gardner placed third in the 1960 Rome Olympics 4x100 Relay. He currently holds the 100 Yard Dash record for the Common Wealth Games. Mr. Gardner is recognized in the Order of Distinction for Jamaica. Mr. Gardner was the beloved husband of 54 years of Fay Gardner (Stiebel). Devoted father of Maxine Gardner, Christina Bayyan, Keith Gardner Jr., Amir Bayyan, Alex Kerlew and Dominic Kerlew. Cherished Grandfather of 3. He is survived by 10 brothers and sisters and also survived by many nieces and nephews.
