I knew Bessie from my many years (since the late 1980's to its closing) of eating at the Stock Pot. She was a lovely person. I know she will be missed by her son, by the other members of her family, and by the many individuals who were touched by her soft, gracious and kind personality. We are so sorry to learn of Bess' passing. One Saturday every few months, we would visit and dine at The Stock Pot. Always greeted by a warm smile from Bess. She would tell us of family outings and adventures. Her family meant everything to her. A number of years ago she was thrilled for her birthday, when the family all went to Atlantic City by rented tour bus. She told us of her Friday nights going out dancing. She never hesitated to share family photos. She was never more proud of her nephew astronauts. It was a true joy to go to The Stock Pot. Bob and Robert were so accommodating and friendly. The food was fantastic from soup, sandwich and dessert prix fix. We miss this place very much. God bless you all as you continue your roads of life, without dear Bess. Another angel has earned her wings!

Hi Bob and Robert! It was with great sadness that I learned of your Mom's passing. She was always so warm and welcoming when we would arrive at the Stock Pot. I always felt at home at the Stock Pot. Upon reflecting, I realize that your Mom was one of the reasons I felt at home. Your Mom always gave me sage advice re: dating (before Ian) and being single. As much as I loved your sunshine orange cake, I loved your Mom more. Please know that others share in your grief. Holly and Ian Davies

My sincere condolences to the Kelly family. What an extraordinary lady! I took my late beloved Mom to The Stock Pot for lunch and that remains one of my treasured memories of our trips to Church Street, Montclair. Thank you for sharing Mrs. Kelly's loveliness with so many of us who miss The Stock Pot and the graciousness of the old Church Street. God bless and comfort all of you.

My sincere condolences to the Kelly family. My wife and I would make frequent trips from Sparta to the Stock Pot to replenish our supply of your delicious soups and Orange Cake. It was always a pleasure to be greeted by Bessie's warm and friendly smile. She was so very helpful and accommodating. You couldn't have had a better person running the "front of the house". I'm sure she will be welcomed lovingly into God's house.
