Sally Giorgio was born Sara Lynne Hanley on July 1,1949 to Alan and Doris Hanley and passed away at the age of 77 on August 1, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. Sally grew up in West Orange as one of six siblings in a house full of love, laughter, family and friends.

Sally attended Our Lady of Lourdes and East Orange Catholic HS. She was married to her late husband Lenny during the blizzard of 1972.  They raised their 3 children in WO never far from family.  Sally was a devoted home maker.  She was an active member of the school PTO, a Girl Scout leader, and volunteered with the WOHS Band and Football Booster Clubs.  Sally worked for many years at the West Orange Public Library where she made many lifelong friends. 

She never missed a grandchild’s sporting event - no matter how little she understood tennis - or dance performance. Nothing brought her more joy than showing off pictures of her grandkids while playing mahjong with friends.

Sally was known for her collection of teapots and her love of tea, which was never served hot enough. It became a family joke to ask the waitress to bring the water to the table “still boiling”. She always carried tea bags and lemon in her purse in case of an emergency.

Sally is survived by her 3 children, Heather Denges and husband Kevin, Kara Haas and husband Rob, and Keith Giorgio, her 5 grandchildren – Lara, Kyle, Haley, Heidi, and Grayson, and her siblings Stephen, Timmy, Katy, Michael, and Alan. 

 A Memorial Funeral Mass folllowed by a Celebration of Life will be offered on Saturday September 26, 2026 at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave in West Orange.
