“We remember and celebrate the life of Lubertha “Dot” Williams, who was born on March 28, 1962, in Sumter, South Carolina. In time, her family made their way to Newark, New Jersey—a place where Dot truly grew into herself. She attended West Side High School and later completed her education at East Orange High School, building the foundation for the life she would so thoughtfully lead.
Dot was, above all, a devoted mother & wife. She loved with intention and purpose, setting high standards while never withholding warmth or encouragement. Everything she did as a parent came from a place of deep love and a desire to see her children live full, meaningful lives. She was their greatest supporter, their safe place, and someone they could always trust.
Dot found happiness in the simple, everyday moments—talking with her mother each day, staying connected with family and friends, and lovingly caring for her devoted husband and sons. Her home was her sanctuary, a place where love, comfort, and peace were always present.
She was preceded in death by her beloved twins boys, Isaiah & Isaac, her daughter Sabrina, father Earl E. Capers, and brother, James Capers.
Dot leaves behind her loyal husband, Wayde Williams; her loving children, Wayde S. Williams (Tiffany) and Aaron Williams; her four cherished grandsons; Wayde, Gabe, Jaelyn & Quentin mother, Sallie B. Capers; siblings, Earl (Julia) Williams, Elizabeth(Anthony)Williams, Demetar Capers, Delores A. Brown, and Diane(Elmer) Williams-Branch; along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Though she is no longer with us, Dot’s love, strength, and grace live on in everyone whose life she touched. Her legacy is one of care, devotion, and quiet strength—and it will continue to guide and inspire us all.”
