Ronald Paul Dower

12/11/1937 – 10/10/2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald “Ron” Paul Dower, 87, of Orange, N.J.  Ron was born on December 11, 1937 and left us peacefully surrounded by family on October 10, 2025.

Ron was the beloved husband of Mary “Maura” Dower for 58 years; loving father of three children, Teresa Dower, Ronald Dower, and Sheila Sherry; and grandfather to Gavin Dower and Starlyn Dower; and father-in-law to Kelly Dower and Jason Sherry.

He is also survived by his brother and sisters, John Dower, Helen Ann Dower-Kissel, and Eileen Roxas; sisters-in-law, Nancy Dower, Helen Dower, and Jean Dower; cousin, Fr. Christopher Beirne; and his many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers Joseph, William, and Robert Dower; and brother-in-law, Ed Kissel.

His family and friends will remember Ron’s ability to easily strike up a conversation with new people and quickly build connections.  He enjoyed sharing stories and his sense of humor with everyone he met.  Ron also had a strong sense of togetherness, especially through shared meals.

With a long career in butchery, only the finest quality meats were selected and prepared to perfection by his bride, Maura.  He loved to play host and share laughs over good food.

Ron enjoyed listening to Irish music and watching his favorite football team, Notre Dame.  He would embrace his inner child when spending days at the shore, whether swimming, fishing, boating, or enjoying the rides.

Ron, thank you for strengthening our sense of belonging and creating so many cherished memories for all of us.  We will carry your memory in our hearts and you will always be with us at the dinner table.  Goodbye for now.

Mass service will be held at St. Rose of Lima, 50 Short Hills Avenue, Short Hills, NJ 07078 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 11:00 am.

Ronald will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225

Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, N.J. 07936.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ronald's name to the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
