Katherine Agnes Cosgrove, known to many as Dee, passed away on July 14th at home in West Orange, NJ, on the same street where she lived her entire 100 years.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. church at 11:00 AM on July 25th. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. Visitation will be at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, located at 340 Main Street at 9:00 AM.

Katherine was born in Orange, NJ to Michael and Katharine McKee, on February 4, 1925. She graduated from West Orange High School in 1943 during the second World War. She worked for a time at a defense plant in Newark and then as a dental assistant.  She married George Cosgrove in 1947.  After she gave birth to the first of their five children, she quit paid employment for the job of mother. She was cook, dishwasher, laundress, shopper and diaper changer. As her children advanced in number and age, her jobs expanded.  She was a PTA volunteer, a Cub Scout den mother, a chauffeur to little league games, swim meets, library visits, the YMCA and many other vital destinations. Throughout these tasks she was a cheerleader, a medic, a psychologist and a confidant.

It should therefore not be surprising, that when her fifth child reached a sufficient age, she returned to paid employment.

In the 1970's she began working at Burrelles Press Clipping Service, in Livingston, NJ. There she made many good friends and retired after decades of work, at the age of 82.

Katherine is survived by her son Glenn, her daughter Cathy (Bob), her son Kevin, her daughter Carol (Brian), her daughter Joan (Steve), her grandson Jesse, her grandson Michael (Melanie), her granddaughter Amy (Rich), her granddaughters Genni, Kasey and Grace, and her grandsons, Sam, James and John and six great grandchildren.

Katherine is preceded in death by her husband George, her parents Michael and Katharine, her beloved daughter-in-law Kate and her sister and best friend Ann.
