Michael J. Whelan, 51

Michael J. Whelan, aged 51, residing in Belvidere, NJ passed away on April 29, 2023. Michael, born on May 31, 1971, grew up in West Orange and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes grammar school and West Orange High School. He worked for a number of years in inventory management at Ricoh USA Inc.

He enjoyed writing and wrote short stories with a literary group at his local library.

He is survived by his daughter Elisabeth Whelan (11) and wife Alexandra Gehlen Whelan of Caldwell, his parents Colleen and James Whelan currently residing in Cranford, previously of West Orange and Ledgewood, his siblings Theresa Card, Colleen Whelan, Mary Kay Kunz and Kathleen Morales, and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagler Rock Ave. in West Orange following the visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main St..
