Obituary of Devon Romans
Devon Alex Romans,55
Visiting will be held on Saturday September 12, 2020 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the Funeral Services at 1:00 PM. Cremation will be private.
Born November 16, 1964 in Kingston, Jamaica, Devon Alex Romans was the third child for his mother Victoria Stoddart. He grew up having a typical West Indian childhood where he learned to work hard, respect others and to enjoy and embrace his Jamaican culture. He migrated with his other siblings to join his mother in the US in 1981.
After graduating from Union high school in NJ, he worked at JMK (BMW) Wholesale Parts Dealership for over twenty-eight years. He grew to be one of the most knowledgeable and sought after auto parts sales persons in the company.
In 1998 Devon was blessed with the gift of his only child Alexander whom he cherished and adored. He was a devoted father and exemplified the best qualities of a compassionate, caring and disciplined Dad. Among other things, he taught Alex how to drive and gave him valuable tips to use in his high school basketball championship games.
In 2015 Devon visited the Doctor and the diagnosis changed his life forever. He fought the sickness valiantly with prayer and his black belt and tai chi skills but in the morning of September 3, 2020, he slept away peacefully.
Devon had an innate loving, caring and fighting spirit, a winsome smile and a heart of gold. Left to cherish those memories are his mother Victoria, son Alexander, siblings Anthony, Yvonne, Michael, Trevor and Andrew. Nieces Nicole, Rochelle, Paige Mikael, Paris Romans. Nephews Sean and Steven Robinson, Michael Jr, Trey, Jaylen, Sean and Isa Romans. Aunts and uncles, in-laws Molly and Carl and numerous friends. Devon, we know you are resting in peace!
