I have a lot of great memories of Danny. We played together in the West Orange Men's softball league (even won a championship as Devine Roofing) and we played in a table top football league for several years. I was in the emergency room twice with Danny while playing softball. One time, he dislocated his shoulder running full speed trying to track down a ball hit over his head in left center field and tried to make a diving catch (don't remember if he caught it). I think he got mad at me at the hospital because I wouldn't stop making him laugh while his arm was dangling off of the gurney - trying to get his shoulder back in place. Another time I almost lost it when I checked his leg wound after someone had slid in to him at third with metal spikes (I could see all the way into his muscle!!!). He asked me how it looked and I said, "Not too bad", and I wouldn't let him look at it. Our table top football league was a wonderful time of friendship and bonding. Great times! There was 6-8 of us and we would get together every week and play each other in statistically based football strategy game. I used to keep detailed stats on all of the players and teams and that was the first thing Danny would go to upon arriving each week and give me a hard time (friendly) if they weren't ready yet. This league was more that some guys playing a game together. It became a weekly time when we could leave all of our concerns aside and just get together with friends who loved (in a manly way) one another. My friendship with Danny was one in which you wouldn't see each other for years, but it seem like a separation of hours when we saw each other again. He will always have a big, warm place in my heart tinged with a little bit of sadness now. Bobby, I enjoyed growing up in Orange with you and Danny and I will miss him terribly. I will keep you in my prayers to be comforted by God's tangible presence alongside you and the families.
