Obituary of Louis James Mignone

Louis James Mignone Sr.,78

Louis James Mignone Sr., age 78, passed away at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, surrounded at bedside by his loving family on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.  Lou will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Judith (nee Webb), and his children, Louis Jr. and Gary. He will also be forever in the hearts of his four grandchildren, Louis III, Gary Jr., Joseph and Natalie, and his daughter-in-laws, Patricia and Pilar.  Lou was predeceased by his parents, Catherine and James, and his siblings, Camille Cronin and Anthony.

Lou was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and served in the U.S. Army for two years.

On November 26, 1966, he married Judith Lynn Webb. Together, they had two sons, Louis Jr. and Gary, and the family happily lived in the Valley section of West Orange, NJ.

Lou was a dedicated employee of the West Orange Department of Public Works for three decades. He was well-recognized and loved in the community for his friendliness and big heart.  He also coached in the Mountain Top and Travel Soccer Programs. Lou was also a long-time, active parishioner at Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church.

Lou’s greatest passion was his family.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and vacationing in Florida and the Jersey shore.  He also loved fishing and making his “famous meatballs” that his family and many friends always claimed to be the best in the world.

Visitation will be held at Dangler Funeral Home, 340 Main St., West Orange, NJ, on Sunday, July 8, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.  A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 9, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Valley Church, 518 Valley St., Orange, NJ.  Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
